Algorfa, Costa Blanca, Spain
Costa Blanca, a Mediterranean paradise in a prime location boasting a superb climate. Temperatures are mild. This climate draws hundreds and thousands of tourists every year and encourages participation in a wide range of sporting activities.
Algorfa (www.algorfa.co.uk) is a typical Spanish village situated in a good location on the Costa Blanca. Its inhabitants are welcoming and their extreme kindness makes everyone feel at home. It is approximately a thirty minutes drive from Alicante Airport in one direction and Murcia Airport in the other. It is only five minutes off the motorway.
In the village of Algorfa there are several traditional Spanish tapas bars and also some new restaurants and bars serving English food. The village square, which is the venue for many concerts and also the fiesta in July, has recently been resurfaced and pedestrianised. There are several shops in the village including a pharmacy and bikes can be hired at Algorfa Bike Rentals.
Algorfa is close to many golf courses, the nearest is La Finca which is only a couple of minutes away. Beautiful sandy beaches can be reached in roughly ten to fifteen minutes. Torrevieja has its own water park Aquopolis (www.aquopolis.es) and there is also a water park in Quesada which is a 10 minute drive from this property.
There are numerous places of interest to visit including Orihuela with its dancing fountains or the cosmopolitan town of Torrevieja . Other places of interest are the nature reserves with pink flamingos and other species of birds. In July Algorfa hosts its own festival which runs for a period of a week with live music and dancing culminating in fabulous firework displays.
The municipal sports ground has a huge swimming pool with a paddling area, tennis courts, a football and 5 a side pitch and children's playground and is directly opposite the Fontana Apartments.
